Location: Metairie, Louisiana (with openings in Fayetteville, AR, and Monroe, LA)
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $65,000 - $90,000 (relocation assistance available)
Job Description:
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Superintendent to oversee field operations and ensure the successful execution of large-scale commercial construction projects. This role requires a seasoned professional with a background in plumbing, HVAC, or mechanical systems and experience managing projects worth $20M or more. The Superintendent will be the primary point of contact for assigned projects, providing leadership to field teams, managing resources, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Coordination:
- Supervise and coordinate all construction activities to align with schedules and budgets.
- Lead field operations and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to address management, safety, and productivity.
Project Oversight:
- Oversee material take-offs and manage procurement for tools, materials, and equipment.
- Coordinate installation activities between trades and monitor subcontractor progress.
- Ensure quality standards are met and compliance with corporate and project requirements.
Business Strategy:
- Implement plans to achieve business objectives and ensure profitability.
- Monitor project financials, including labor, materials, and overall costs.
Safety & Compliance:
- Promote a safe work environment by conducting safety meetings and investigating incidents.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, company policies, and legal regulations.
- Schedule equipment deliveries and inspections with governing authorities.
Operational Efficiency:
- Manage field personnel priorities, including staffing, training, and performance evaluations.
- Implement productivity improvements and ensure project compliance and quality assurance.
- Support start-up and commissioning to align with company standards.
Client Relations:
- Maintain positive relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and project success.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of verifiable experience as a Plumbing Superintendent.
- Valid state plumbing license.
- Proven experience managing large-scale commercial construction projects ($20M+), such as hospitals, high-rise hotels, casinos, or office buildings.
- Med-gas certification required.
- At least 6 months of safety training.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with industry standards and competitors.
- Ability to adapt to duties outside the defined scope of work when necessary.
Travel Requirements:
- Minimal travel required (0-5%) to job sites or office locations.
